Solid-state Physcis (I)

Introduction:

Introduce students the condensed matter physics as the bascic knowledge of studying material science, quantum mechanics, advanced physics courses and doing research.

Outline:

Following the text book "Introduction to Solid State Physics" edited by Charles Kittel -
Introduction includes crystalstructur, phonons, free electron Fermi gas, energy band, semiconductor and Fermi surface.

one topic for each 2-3 weeks

Means of Conducting the Course

I will introduce each topic to students first and students have to search and study related materials after class for the discussion and report in the folloing week.

Scoring

The final grade will up to student's home work, discussion in class and midterm- and final- examines.
